JANET YANG ROHR
For State Central Committeeperson & State Representative
ABOUT ME
Meet Janet

I'm Janet Yang Rohr
I’m a mom, a precinct committeeperson, a former school board member, and a current Illinois State Representative who believes real change starts at the grassroots--with neighbors organizing, listening to one another, and working together for a better future.
I’m the granddaughter of refugees and the daughter of immigrants. My parents arrived in the United States in the 1970s with little more than their determination. Their sacrifices shaped my belief that everyone deserves dignity, opportunity, and a voice in the decisions that affect their lives.
My path to public service began close to home. As a PC and school board member, I knocked doors, talked with voters, and worked alongside parents, educators, and community members to solve problems from the ground up. Those experiences taught me that progress doesn’t come from the top down. It comes from building coalitions, earning trust, and organizing across differences.
Today, I serve in the Illinois General Assembly, where I focus on strengthening public education, expanding economic opportunity, and protecting fundamental rights. I believe bold, progressive change is only possible when we stay rooted in our communities and build broad, inclusive coalitions that reflect the people we serve.
As a working parent raising a family, I understand the everyday challenges facing families across Illinois. I’m running to help strengthen our party by investing in grassroots organizing, supporting Democratic candidates up and down the ballot, and building the kind of people-powered infrastructure that turns shared values into lasting change.
